El Chapo may not have been in hiding for the entire six months he was on the run from authorities, with a new report claiming he went out in public for what he clearly deemed a very necessary medical procedure - a testicular implant.
The notorious drug lord, who has 18 children with seven different women, is said to have undergone a procedure to increase the blood flow to his penis in an attempt to combat his erectile dysfunction.
The procedure occurred in September or early October, shortly after he met with actor Sean Penn and his latest paramour, actress Kate del Castillo.

SinEmbargo.mx reports that when authorities finally caught up with Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman they discovered scarring in his genital region and found injectable testosterone, syringes, antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory medication.
WHAT ARE TESTICULAR IMPLANTS?
For men who have difficulty obtaining and maintaining erections, a testicular implant is a possible option to fix this problem.
Nonsurgical methods are usually recommended first, and if those do not work there are two types of implants available to men: a malleable rod implant and an inflatable implant.
With the malleable rod, two cylinders are placed inside the penis giving the man a constant erection.
An inflatable implant is also two cylinders placed inside the man's penis, which are pumped full of air by an individual to achieve an erection at a desired time.
Men can also undergo vascular reconstructive surgery where veins are blocked in the man's shaft to allow more blood flow to the penis which in turn makes achieving an erection easier.
Little else is known about the alleged procedure, which apparently occurred in Tijuana - right by the United State border.
El Chapo does not mention the surgery in his many texts to del Castillo, which have just become public.
In them he professes his love for the soap star, saying in one; 'I’ll look after you, you’ll see when you get here, and we drink tequila together. As I told you, I’m not a drinker, but I’ll drink with you to celebrate being with you.
'Thank you for being such a great person. You are so beautiful in every way.'
Things seem to heat up after he gets his implant too, with El Chapo telling Del Castillo, 43, he wants her to meet his mother on October 29, after the surgery.
The kingpin may have needed the operation to simply handle the volume of women he was seeing, as he was also reportedly spending time with his wife, American-born beauty queen Emma Coronel Aispuro, and 26-year-old politician Lucero Guadalupe Sanchez Lopez during his time as a fugitive.
He has twin daughters with Coronel, who is also 26, Emmali and Maria Joaquina; and two sons with Sanchez, Rubén and Anuel.

Sanchez, who is a member of Congress, gave birth to Anuel just last year, meaning she would have gotten pregnant during a conjugal visit to El Chapo in the maximum security prison he eventually escaped from in July.
She reportedly gave birth to the child in the United States so he could become an American citizen.
Both Lopez and El Chapo have denied having any sort of relationship, let alone having any children together.
Sanchez, who is president of the Youth and Sports Commission in the Sinaloa Congress, is believed to have met El Chapo at a party in 2013 when she was 24, according to Mexican news site Excelsior.
Months later, her 27-year-old husband, the journalist Ruben Chavez, was shot dead. He was the father to her older two sons.
El Chapo also has four children with first wife Alejandrina María Salazar Hernández whom he married in 1977 (Iván Archivaldo, Jesús Alfredo, César, and Alejandrina); two children with Estela Paña, whom he married after kidnapping in the early 1980s (Desiré and Diego.); four children with third wife Griselda López Pérez whom he married in the mid-1980s (Edgar, Joaquin, Ovidio, and Griselda Guadalupe); three children with girlfriend Nancy Bravo (Joaquin, Fernando, and Nancy); and a son Hector Julian. with Irma Neri.
And now, with his new implant, there may be more to come.
